Dubai summer pushes every car system to its design limits. Ambient temperatures of 45 °C+ combined with road surface temperatures over 70 °C accelerate wear on cooling, AC, battery, tyres, and paint protection. Here are the five most common heat-related issues we see at Hallmark — and what to do before they cost you a tow.

1. AC compressor seals dry out

Long idle times in traffic combined with high cabin pulldown loads mean the compressor cycles aggressively. The most common failure is a refrigerant leak from a hardened front shaft seal — diagnosable in 20 minutes with a UV dye trace.

2. Battery capacity drops 30% by August

Lead-acid batteries lose capacity in heat the same way lithium loses range in cold. If your battery is more than 24 months old, get it tested in May — replacement now is cheaper than a tow from Sheikh Zayed Road in July.

3. Tyre pressures swing 8 PSI between morning and afternoon

Cold morning pressure of 32 PSI can hit 40 PSI by 2 PM. Set pressures to manufacturer cold spec (usually printed on the door jamb) when tyres are genuinely cold — first thing in the morning before driving.

4. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, lowers boiling point

DOT 3/4 brake fluid is hygroscopic. After 2 years in Dubai humidity it can hold 3% water by weight, dropping the boiling point from 230 °C to under 150 °C. Result: spongy pedal in heavy braking. Annual flush is non-negotiable.

5. Clear coat fails without UV protection

Direct sun without paint protection film or ceramic coating breaks down clear coat in 18-24 months. By then it’s not a polish job — it’s a respray. PPF or 9H ceramic pays for itself in 3 years on any premium car.
