Every premium car owner in Dubai eventually faces the question: ceramic coating, paint protection film (PPF), or both? Each has clear strengths and clear failure modes — and the right answer depends on how you actually use the car.

Ceramic coating — the chemistry play

9H ceramic creates a hydrophobic, UV-resistant glass-like layer over the clear coat. Water beads, dust slides off easier, and washing time drops by half. Lasts 2-5 years depending on wash regime.

Wins: gloss enhancement, hydrophobic behaviour, UV protection, easier cleaning.
Loses: zero physical abrasion protection. Stone chips and scratches still happen.

PPF — the urethane shield

A thick (~200 micron) self-healing urethane film bonded to the paint. Absorbs stone chips, road debris, key marks. Modern PPF is optically clear and self-heals minor scratches with heat.

Wins: physical protection, self-healing, removable without paint damage.
Loses: 5x the cost of ceramic, edges can lift over time, slightly less hydrophobic than ceramic alone.

What we recommend for Dubai

For most luxury cars in Dubai we apply both — PPF on high-impact zones (front bumper, hood, mirrors, fenders ahead of doors) and ceramic over the entire car. PPF takes the hit; ceramic makes washing painless and protects PPF itself from contamination.

Cost expectations

  • Premium ceramic (5-year): AED 4,000 – 7,000 depending on car size
  • Front-end PPF: AED 6,000 – 10,000
  • Full-body PPF: AED 18,000 – 30,000

Getting it done right

Both treatments are application-sensitive. Done badly, ceramic streaks and PPF lifts at the edges within months. Always check application photos, ask about prep (decontamination, IPA wipe), and get it done in a controlled, dust-free environment. Our detailing bay is climate-controlled exactly for this.
